Operitel Recognized in Top 20 Learning Portal Companies

OpenText’s Operitel, a technology company specializing in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Enterprise Learning Portals, was one of two Canadian companies to be included in the TrainingIndustry.com's newest Top 20 list: Learning Portal Companies. The distinction further defines Operitel as an aggressive player in the learning management and e-learning industry. It also exemplifies the synergy Operitel has with OpenText which acquired Operitel last week. For example, OpenText provides Open Text Portal, a scalable, highly interactive, personalized online portal that meets the demands of today’s Web 2.0 empowered users.

Operitel's Enterprise Learning Portal works collaboratively with the company's flagship LMS product, LearnFlex™, allowing Operitel clients to target learning and training content specific to their individual needs. The Enterprise Learning Portal facilitates the aggregation of data from a number of different enterprise applications based on client profile and preferences. Operitel’s Enterprise Learning Portal and the OpenText Portal both leverage Microsoft SharePoint, a collaborative enterprise sharing system, thus facilitating an integrated solution with the power to generate or recover significant revenues.

"We are once again thrilled to be included in the TrainingIndustry.com's Top 20 Learning Portal list," said Michael Skinner, president of Operitel Corporation. "Their site - and their Top 20 lists in particular - are well respected in the industry. It is also a great honour to be included among the other prominent companies in the new Learning Portal List."

The TrainingIndustry.com Top 20 lists rank companies in the learning management sector around the world to provide an unbiased assessment on the industry's major players, creating a more efficient marketplace for learning. The new Learning Portal Top 20 selection was based on integral capabilities of the learning portals, such as: breadth of portal capabilities, types of clients served, overall commitment to the corporate training industry, industry visibility, innovation and impact, number and strength of clients, and geographic reach.

Operitel Corporation's Enterprise Learning Portal focuses on easy-to-use, configurable technology based on an "as required" functionality. Primarily an "off-the-shelf" product, the ELP features many useful functions, such as the ability to organize and catalogue courses or curricula, manage registrations and course resources, enable course purchases through e-commerce functionality, and rigorous analytic functions, to name a few.

"What sets LearnFlex™ and our Learning Portal apart from other learning management systems is its adaptability and user experience, which is a big factor in our recent recognition in the TrainingIndustry.com's Top 20 list," explains Skinner. "Most products require extensive customization, whereas our products, such as the Learning Portal, provide an ease-of-use system and the ability to configure features and functionality that meets the needs of HR departments, regardless of the size of the organization. Operitel prides itself on creating a configurable LMS and Portal that can adapt to changing business rules and be configured by the client administrators without any need for writing software code."

The company has been recognized with numerous awards, including: Employer of the Year, Peterborough Chamber Business Excellence Awards; Profit 100: Canada's Fastest Growing Companies, 2008; LearnX Awards: Asia-Pacific e-Learning and Training – Best LMS Hosted Solution; Profit HOT 50 Ranking: Canada's Emerging Growth Companies, 2006.
